"Slightly difficult to identify with a late evening arrival - hotel said only Hotel - no name as expected - and no real drop off point. The secure parking 2 mins away was suitable and acceptable." (97900728)

It provided exactly what was required for our overnight stay and as was stated would be available plus courteous and helpful staff, comfortable facilities and adequate breakfast.

"Newly renovated so very crisp and clean. Spacious rooms and good bathrooms with nice showers. Good value for money and perfect for what we needed - an overnight transit stay. Only difficulty was finding the place as the sign said did not say 'Jacquard'." (97626745)

    Good value for transit stay.

Signage made it difficult to find.

"An ideal choice for a short stay break in a central location. We asked for a quiet room away from fire doors, this is essential as a lot of rooms are located near these at this hotel and also face over the (noisy) main road." (97932841)

Good central location and value for money.

Nothing really, although room was fairly small by U.K standards.

"We checked in late and the process was very quick and staff very helpful. No problems with the rooms, they were clean and things worked fine. Window 'whistled' a bit, but it was very windy outside. Didn't bother our sleep. The breakfast was a fine with fresh breads, cereals, yoghurts, and drink machine. Nothing fancy. Thought hotel was very good for the price." (97480825)

Great location. Very helpful staff. Though no private parking, many spots were available on the city streets and free from 18.00-9.00(overnight).

Was quite windy outside and our window was 'whistling' a bit.

"The entrance lobby is NOT on Boulevard Jacquard, but on Rue des Soupirants which is a one way street. Its next to the Ecole d'Art de Calais so follow signs to Ecole d'Art. As other reviews comment there are no tea/coffee facilities in the room, and the bar only sells alcohol with food. This was fine as we were already aware of it." (97907470)

Good, clean, presentable. Ideal for short break in Calais or passing through from the Channel.

    Nothing.

"great would recomment it to friends and family" (97321465)

check in was excellent - reception spoke really good English and made us feel really welcome - she also told us when breakfast was and where. Rooms was nice and it was nice to have all the beds made up. The bedrooms were big and the bathroom was nice and big but no shower screen so the floor got a bit wet

No tea or coffee making facilities in the room. There seemed to be a few bits missing from the bedroom looked like things had been taken from the room. There was not shower screen so the floor got a bit wet.

"Overall opinion, taking into consideration everything of our stay, i would have to give it 8/10" (97861371)

The hotel was situated in the centre of Calais and was only 5mins from the tunnel. Shops and bars on your doorstep. Breakfast was excellent. Hotel would be hard to find if travelling alone, but as long as you look right you cant miss it. Would use again no problem.

Only dislike was i could'nt get a drink in bar unless i bought a snack.

"Would never stay there again. Should be closed down. Thats the kindest thing I can say. My reccomendation to others - Go somewhere else - sleep in the public park or spend an extra few euros. " (99698771)

    Good central location, inexpensive

The hotel was dirty and grimy, predominant smell of vomit in reception area, human hair in my cheese at breakfast, elevator malfunction - refused to stop on floor 5 - had to use filthy stairs instead (more vomit smell). I didnt complain - it would have been pointless considering the condition of the place was so obvious. (how can anyone sit in a reception area that smelled of vomit and not notice?)

"Had I realised that the hotel was in the throws of a complete refurbishment, I would not have booked. However, despite the awful breakfast coffee, we had a pleasant stay." (97902057)

The Hotel was being renovated when we stayed. The newly decorated room was good, if somewhat cold. The bed was very comfortable and the restyled shower room was excellent.

The tin box coffee and tea dispenser produced a weak, instant coffee tasting of nothing. It was an insult to the coffee of France. I noticed that the staff made themselves coffee from the excellent espresso macine in the bar area.

Hotel receptionist very helpful and freindly Hotel was central to everything breakfast excellent. secure parking just across the road

we asked for a smoking room which was a bit dingy and there was a big cigarette burn in the carpet. and no ashtray was provided.the bedroom doors had self closers on them we were woken up at 6-30 am by a door slamming. The name of the hotel was not anywhere to be seen outside the hotel .

"Absolutely fine for an overnight stay. Do like hotels to have tea/coffee making facilities - but not here. Plenty of choice at the breakfast buffet, but didn't like the taste of the coffee or the fruit juice - both dispensed out of a machine. Hotel was clean, though looked a little 'tired'. In spite of the niggles, this hotel is good value for money." (97644330)

Cheap and cheerful. Perfectly adequate for an overnight stay. Central location, lots of shops and choice of restaurants close by.

Lift was out of order and the stairwell was rather dark - difficult to see exactly where you were going.

It was an Ibis and next year will be rebranded as a Daisy group hotel, so it is probably not the best time for a review.I think they were caught out as well by storms in the channel which filled the hotel at the last minute. However no hot water in the room and running out of most breakfast items, inc. plates, mugs etc. wasn't good.Bed was comfortable though so good nights sleep." (97602248)

"The parking was a bit of a hit and miss affair - street parking is free after 6pm until 9am next morning. Restaurant which was called the Mirador and gave a 5% discount if staying at this hotel. Food very good. Easy to get to the Cite Europe from this hotel which is in main high street of Calais. This hotel is OK if you are not staying more than 1 night - otherwise look around for something a bit more upmarket." (97658850)

price was good and so was the breakfast

basic room which although was supposed to be a NON smoking room it was obvious that people had been smoking in there. Small heater which was inadequate for the size of room and only one chair although this was a 'family' room with a queen bed and a single.

"An ideal hotel for short breaks in the Calais area, very well positioned for all the ammenities in calais. Exceptionally clean throughout with good friendly service from the staff. The continental breakfast served is fine but i missed having a boiled egg with it.The hotel entrance is not on the Boulevard Jaqaurd but on the side street. You easily miss the Hotel as you are looking for a hotel sign/name on the front but all you see is a huge opticians on the ground floor front corner facing the road with a general hotel sign 10 metres up on the wall. Good hotel if you want to take children.Less than 5 minute drive from the Eurotunnel exit & 10 minutes from the port." (97185052)

Very clean hotel throughout, the bedrooms had everything you need for 1 or 2 nights. very clean & fresh smelling.Perfect location for bars & Cafe`s etc. Easy parking.

Could do with eggs being served with the continental breakfast. Missed the Hotel first time as it is not very well signed as an Hotel. Thought it was the large opticians on the corner. Would be nice to have Tea & Coffee making facilities in the room, my wife would have liked a hair dryer in the room.

It was dark and damp but in hindsight it was value for money. The staff were very informative and spoke very good English even though we were trying to speak to them in bad French. Overall, it was value for money but a little damp and cold." (97137660)

The area the hotel was in, it was easy to get back and forth to the town centre without using public transport.

The hotel staff were very friendly, spoke very good english and were extremely helpful we were even offered the choice of the front or back of the hotel for our room. The room itself was modern, clean and of reasonable size, the bed was very comfortable and the room was warm. There was only a shower in the bathroom but this was quite adequate and very good. The breakfast was a very nice continental breakfast with plenty of food available. Overall the hotel was excellent value for money and well suited to the purpose of our stay, although I would not hesitate to stay there again and for longer than a weekend break." (97319304)
